Oman Aviation Academy Opens Its Main Headquarters In Sohar Airport

The Oman Aviation Academy has officially opened its main headquarters at the Sohar Airport in the Al Batinah North Governorate. The grand opening was patronized by His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Ma’awali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, along with several high-ranking officials.
Spread across an expansive area of 70,000 square meters, the new facility boasts a variety of state-of-the-art amenities, including a flight simulator building, aircraft maintenance hangar, control tower, aircraft parking lots, and a transit corridor, among others.

The purpose of the academy is to train and qualify national cadres in the aviation sector, attract students from all over the world, and provide top-notch training in the fields of civil and military aviation in the Middle East and Africa.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Aviation Academy, Matar bin Ali Al-Obaidani, gave the opening speech, highlighting the strategic partnerships the academy has established with CIE, a leading civil and military aviation training company, and Oman Air.
These partnerships aim to provide training and qualify a considerable number of national cadres to enter the job market as pilots.

Abdullah bin Murad Al Balushi, CEO of the Oman Aviation Academy, expressed his excitement about the latest technology in virtual reality simulators and flight simulators, including the Diamond Company and the Boeing 737 Max simulator, which have been procured to provide the best possible training experience.
The aircraft maintenance hangar, he said, was designed to cater to the needs of small and large aircraft owned by businesspeople and would also provide maintenance services for the academy’s aircraft and those owned by companies and individuals.
As the first accredited academy for civil aviation training in the Sultanate of Oman, the Oman Aviation Academy has meticulously prepared its training programs to align with the highest international safety and quality standards, in line with the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Sultanate of Oman.
The academy is actively seeking approvals from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency to expand its reach and provide its training programs on a global scale.
Since its launch, the academy has enrolled more than 100 students and is set to graduate its first batch next March.
With a fleet of 13 training aircraft and 3 training simulators, equipped with the latest and best flight training devices and equipment, the Oman Aviation Academy is committed to providing the highest quality standards in civil and military aviation training. The academy was established in 2017 with the support of the Partnership for Development Program (Offset) and in partnership with Airbus and CIE, a pioneering company in the field of civil and military aviation training.
