Sohar Aluminium and OMIFCO support construction of investment building for Al Rahma Association
Sohar Aluminium, Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) and Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood Care signed an agreement today to support the financing of the construction of the investment building for the association’s “Al Khair Wafi” initiative, in a step that reflects the growing role of the private sector in building development partnerships with a sustainable impact.
This came during a ceremony held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Family and Community Development Affairs, in the presence of a number of officials.
The agreement aims to establish a commercial investment building whose proceeds will go entirely to the Al Rahma Association, providing a sustainable financial resource that contributes to supporting orphan sponsorship programs, educational, rehabilitation and social programs, and enhances the association’s ability to plan its services away from dependence on donations.

The building is built on an area of 5,492 square meters and consists of 6 floors containing commercial, residential and office units. The project aims to contribute to serving more than 1,100 orphans from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, by providing a sustainable financial resource that supports care programs and enhances the association’s ability to respond to the changing needs of the beneficiary groups.
The project comes within the framework of Al Rahma Association’s direction towards developing a sustainable model for financing orphan care programs and enhancing its financial capacity and sustainability. It also embodies a shift in the concept of social responsibility from immediate support to sustainable investment, by directing contributions towards investment projects capable of generating continuous value.
Her Excellency Sanaa bint Abdulrahman Al-Khanjari, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood Care, affirmed that the support of Sohar Aluminium and OMIFCO represents an important milestone in the journey of the “Al Khair Wafi” initiative, praising the contribution of the two companies to the project, which reflects an awareness of the importance of building strategic partnerships with civil society institutions and directing social responsibility towards projects that achieve a sustainable impact.
For his part, Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al-Masoudi, CEO of Sohar Aluminium, explained that supporting the project comes within the framework of the company’s keenness to ensure that its contributions go beyond the concept of direct support to creating partnerships capable of making a sustainable impact, noting that the project represents a model of social investment that combines the developmental dimension and financial sustainability.
Said bin Salem Al Salmi, Director General of Human Resources and Work Culture at OMIFCO, said that the company views social responsibility as one of its most important duties towards society, and seeks to build sustainable partnerships with civil society institutions, explaining that the agreement comes within OMIFCO’s initiatives in community investment strategies for the quality of life sector.
It is worth mentioning that the “Al Khair Wafi” initiative began as a voluntary initiative launched by a group of female entrepreneurs with the aim of supporting orphans, before it developed into an investment endowment project aimed at building a sustainable financial resource to support the programs of the Al Rahma Association. The new agreement represents a milestone in the project’s journey and enhances the opportunities to achieve its objectives.
