Asyad Container Terminal–Duqm welcomes one of the world’s largest container ships
Asyad Container Terminal – Duqm received the ‘CMA CGM Vasco da Gama’ on its first visit to the terminal, thus recording a new achievement as the largest container ship to dock there since the start of its operations, confirming its readiness to receive the new generation of giant container ships.

The ship has a capacity of 18,000 standard containers, and its arrival confirms the advanced operational readiness of the Asyad Container Terminal – Duqm and its ability to handle the latest generation of giant container ships efficiently and safely, based on a modern infrastructure, berths with appropriate operational depths, and operational capabilities that meet the growing requirements of the global container shipping sector.
Omar bin Mahmoud Al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports and Freezones, said that the arrival of the CMA CGM Vasco da Gama vessel on its first visit to Asyad Container Terminal – Duqm embodies the advanced operational capabilities of the terminal and reflects the growing confidence that the Sultanate of Oman enjoys among major international shipping companies. He noted that as handling volumes and industrial investments in Duqm continue to grow, the terminal remains committed to providing world-class services and contributing to consolidating Duqm’s position as a strategic gateway connecting regional and global markets.
