Oman receives RO8bn foreign direct investment
Oman received RO8,013mn in foreign direct investment in the first half of 2017, a growth of RO619.4mn over the same period in 2016.
The oil and gas sector constituted the bulk of foreign investment, at RO3,859bn, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
This was followed by financial brokerage, with RO1,510mn, the industry sector with RO1,028mn, real estate activities at RO643.6mn and other activities of RO972mn.
The United Kingdom (UK) placed atop the list of investing countries, with an investment of RO3,299mn in Oman, followed by United Arab Emirates (UAE) with RO943.7mn and Qatar with RO457.5mn.
FDI from Kuwait stood at RO429.4mn, Bahrain at RO371.5mn, RO349.3mn from the USA, RO303mn from India, RO289mn from Switzerland, RO270.8mn in the Netherlands and RO1,300mn from other countries.
