Wheat Supply and Security Ensured In Oman, No Shortage In Supply

Muscat: Amidst the current wheat export and import crisis globally due to the heatwave in India and also due to the ongoing Russia and Ukraine conflict, Oman assured its people that there won’t be a dearth of wheat supply and demand in the Sultanate and necessary measure are being taken to ensure wheat security.
Qais Bin Mohammad Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion affirmed that there are sufficient stock of wheat during his meeting with Merchants on Friday in the Wilayat of Muttrah.
The Minister also emphasised that His Majesty Haitham Bin Tarik pays close attention to improve the concerns and queries arising among people due to Covid-19 and the break in Supply Chain.
Haitham Mohamed Al Fanna, CEO of Oman Flour Mills informed the people in an interview that two shipments of wheat arrived from India and the third shipment will arrive shortly.
“Apart from that, we also have regular shipments coming from Australia and these stocks are sufficient until the end of this year,” he added.
Russian troops began invading Ukraine on February 24th, and since then, intense battle in different parts of the country has disrupted food exports in various countries.
