COVID-19 Update: Will Oman Go Into Another Lockdown In February 2021?
Muscat: As the number of COVID-19 cases begins rising in Oman, Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, the Minister of Health, has opened up about the repercussions of breaking government-mandated protocols.
While the minister said that he hoped to not impose a lockdown in the country, he added that the decision to close and go into a lockdown will not be taken easily.
At the press conference, he said: “We hope that we will not have to go back even to the partial closure.”

The Minister added: “Your health and safety is the primary goal of the government of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq (May God preserve and protect him), the Supreme Committee, and the health sector, and its preservation cannot be the responsibility of the government alone; it is the responsibility of everyone.”
Today [Monday, February 1], Oman registered six new cases of people infected with the new strain of Coronavirus that was first detected in the UK.
Dr. Al Saidi then said: “Several measures have been taken by the Supreme Committee, the first of which is to close the land ports. However, the numbers continued to rise and the committee was forced to take additional measures.
“Unfortunately, the vast majority of committed people pay the price for the actions of a few reckless ones.
