Oman’s agriculture and fisheries sector records growth in Q1 2026
Agriculture, forestry and fishing activity in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a positive performance during the first quarter of 2026, according to the quarterly bulletin issued by the Ministry of Economy.
The ministry stated that the sector witnessed remarkable growth in GDP at constant prices, amounting to 6.1 percent, reaching approximately RO 337.8 million, compared to RO318.3 million during the same period in 2025. It indicated that this growth reflects the improvement in the performance of activities related to agricultural and fish production, driven by the expansion of investments and the enhancement of the efficiency of production and supply chains.

At the sub-activity level, agriculture achieved strong growth of 12 percent, while fishing activity recorded growth of 0.9 percent, indicating stable performance in the maritime sector and continued pace of development in the agricultural sector.
The ministry noted the increased relative importance of the agriculture and fishing sector in the national economy, with its contribution reaching 3.4 percent of the gross domestic product during the first quarter of 2026, compared to 2.9 percent in the same period of the previous year.
The ministry stated that this performance comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to develop productive sectors, which contributes to achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040, through enhancing investments, raising production efficiency, and expanding the economic base based on local resources.
