Here’s What You Need To Know About Oman’s Illegal Transport Violation Rules And Land Transport Law
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT (MTCIT) has released a statement about its recent inspection campaigns aimed at monitoring road transport.
The statement clearly explains that the violation of land transport law does not include those who transport their acquaintances and/or friends, as long as it is not done for financial gain.
This statement follows the registration of over 2,000 illegal transport violations by the Ministry in recent days. The Ministry advises that grievances about these violations can be submitted to the Land Transport Department in the Ministry’s main office or to the road departments in the governorates within 15 days of issuance.
As per the Law, a fine of RO200 is imposed on the driver if caught and booked for illegal transportation.
The Ministry emphasises that inspection teams are committed to ensuring that motorists do not violate the provisions of the executive regulations of the Land Transport Law.
However, violation notices will not be issued without a thorough check. The inspection teams aim to ensure that the requirements of the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations are complied with, in order to protect the safety of land transport users and the rights of the parties involved in the land transport contract.
The inspection teams have already discovered a number of violations, including violations of the requirements for carrying out transport activities, particularly with regard to the transportation of goods and individuals.
These campaigns are intended to regulate the land transport sector and create opportunities for companies and individuals to invest in this important sector.
The Ministry confirms that its inspection campaigns will continue, and urges workers in the sector to adapt to the requirements of the Land Transport Law and its regulations.
