Oman Targets 10% Renewable Energy Contribution by 2025: Report
Belham Management Industries Inc. (BMI) of the international agency, Fitch, said that natural gas-operated energy stations will contribute about 95 per cent of power supplies in the Sultanate by 2029.
In a recent report titled “Energy in Oman: (Q4) Fourth quarter 2020”, BMI pointed out that the Sultanate’s government targets 10 per cent renewable energy contribution by 2025.
The report added that renewable energy sources will spearhead the growth of the energy sector, buttressed by a lineup of tenders for more renewable energy projects.
BMI stressed the need to continue to pursue measures to ensure efficiency in the management of the electricity network to avoid losing more than 14 per cent, by annual average, in transmission and development.
