Talabat Partnerships With Leading Universities In Oman Help Foster And Empower Local Talent
Muscat: Talabat, the region’s leading local tech platform, has concluded an eight-week apprenticeship program to prepare students to start their career journey.
Partnering with leading universities across Muscat, including Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), German University of Technology (GUTech) and Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS), the program allowed students to gain valuable experience through interning in departments relevant to their areas of study, focusing on the field of q-commerce.
The program also provided participating students with qualified feedback on their progress and the opportunity to be offered a full-time position with talabat on completion.
Rafa Al Shamakhi, talabat Coordinator People Operations, said: “We are very pleased to introduce the next generation of talented Omanis to real-world work experiences and help to shape their careers at an early stage. The fast-moving q-commerce sector offers a wide variety of opportunities, each with transferable skills, and all the students were able to adapt to a new working environment very quickly and with enthusiasm, receiving praise from our team across all departments.”
Hafsa Al Balushi, currently studying Operation Management at SQU, interned in the Non-Food Vertical department where she was commended for her ability and commitment. She commented, “This was a great learning opportunity and a chance to use my university experience in a real-life situation. The team was very welcoming and helped me understand the various work processes. Overall, this was a valuable opportunity, and it has helped introduce me to an area where I’d like to start my career.”
Rayya Al Kindi, an Accounting and Finance student at the College of Banking and Financial Studies, joined the team as an intern with talabat mart. She said: “Being exposed to the fast-paced nature of the industry showed me another side of finance in retail as well as an appreciation for the need to be agile in the modern economy. I felt welcomed by the talabat team and would consider a career in this sector.”
