Bank Muscat to co-host EY Student Excellence Awards on 25 April

Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, as part of its commitment to the country’s youth and initiatives aimed at sustaining the country’s progress and development, is co-hosting EY (Ernst & Young) Student Excellence Awards ceremony under the auspices of H.E Saud bin Nasser Al Shukaili, Secretary General of Taxation at the Ministry of Finance, on 25 April at Inter-Continental Hotel.
As the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, Bank Muscat leads by example and the support to EY Student Excellence Awards stems from its commitment to the country’s future generations. Bank Muscat has adopted a series of measures in line with the Royal directive of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to develop the potential of youth in the progressive march of the nation. The bank remains committed to shouldering its developmental and social responsibilities within the framework of co-operation and co-ordination with all segments of society, especially youth who represent the country’s future.
The EY Student Excellence Awards are a recognition of high achievers in the fields of Accounting, Finance and IT. The awards programme is a challenge for youth to excel by competing with the best and the brightest students from universities and colleges in Oman.
Corporates are keen to develop their leadership pool from among young Omanis, hence the awards showcase winners for a rewarding career. The awards are an investment to build human capacity and create academic and career growth opportunities for bright Omani youth.

The ‘Jesr al Mustaqbal’ (Bridge to Future) programme is a commitment by the bank to provide Omani youth with opportunities to build a strong foundation for a better future. As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the bank in association with the Ministry of Higher Education provides scholarships to Omani students pursuing undergraduate programmes in Oman. The CSR initiative is targeted to benefit young Omanis – both male and female from social welfare families who have not been able to complete their education for various reasons.
Bank Muscat has the distinction of outstanding leadership at all levels and has achieved 94 per cent Omanisation, giving priority for Omanis to occupy important positions. The bank’s human resources strategy is also notable in maintaining gender diversity as 48 per cent of employees are women holding various positions, including senior management positions.
The development of human resources is a priority in the bank which provides educational and training opportunities to employees. Bank Muscat makes substantial allocation in the annual budget for training and development of human resources in all functions and responsibilities assigned to them. The training and development programmes are carried out through specialised educational courses conducted by accredited training centers or through academic links with colleges, universities and leading training institutes at the regional and global levels.
