ILO Hails Sultanate’s Efforts To Improve Social Protection
Muscat: The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has commended the Sultanate’s improvement of the Social Security System in a manner that fits with international criteria.
The Beirut-based ILO Regional Office took note of Omani efforts to establish a comprehensive system of protection for all workers and their families across various sectors.
The ILO congratulated the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) for the achievement made by the Sultanate, which is the issuance of the Job Security System (JSS).
The ILO, in a letter to the PASI, pointed out that the Job Security System is an established system of protection in the region. It referred to the Sultanate’s benefiting from the regional support extended to countries of the region during the foundation of the JSS.
The international organisation hailed the vision of PASI, saying that it serves as a cornerstone for other world-class social service improvements that enhance competence, justice and financial sustainability of social protection.
The ILO also praised the activation of social dialogue between the three parties of production (Government, Employers, Employees) and it expressed its willingness to lend technical support during the stages of implementation of the social protection system.
