Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) has urged private sector companies and institutions to set up commercial aquaculture projects in the Sultanate. The Ministry has called on the aspiring investors, entrepreneurs and SMEs to register through the its website www.maf.gov.om between June 16 and July 15.
While registering their proposed projects, the companies have to submit a feasibility study indicating the location of the project, its area and the initial investment cost. They should also furnish other vital details such as the type of the project, the farming system, estimated annual production capacity, tentative starting date, the quality and quantity of the water that will be used for the project.
MoAF also said the companies registering for the project must also specify the type of service that will be provided to the community through the project. The companies registering must also abide by the terms and quality of aquaculture regulations issued by Ministerial Decision No 177/2012.
