Oman LNG to fund two key community projects in Sur
In celebration of Oman’s 47th National Day, Ahmed bin Abdullah al Shuhi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, laid foundation stones for two key projects funded by Oman LNG in Sur. The projects include establishing a fishermen loading jetty at Al Barr and constructing a protection wall and walkway at Al Aijah.
As part of his visit to the wilayat, the Minister also toured a number of developmental and community projects in various stages of implementation, many of which are being financed by Oman LNG as part of its Social Investment Programme. These initiatives have gone a long way in improving the quality of life of citizens and residents of the wilayat.
Renowned for its fishing activities, Sur is home to around 3,000 Omanis who are part of the wilayat’s thriving fishery industry. Oman LNG is funding the construction of a fishing jetty in the Al Barr area in Sur, which will provide greater convenience to fishermen as they unload their daily catch.
The second project being financed by Oman LNG centres on the construction of a walkway and retaining wall at the northern end of Al Aijah, Sur. The 1,200 metre long walkway, which is 6-metre wide, will allow local residents to enjoy healthy strolls along this scenic stretch, as well as contribute to leisure activities in this area.
“These projects affirm Oman LNG’s unremitting efforts at developing the community in various facets, which promote and upgrade social welfare for different segments of the society,” said Hilal al Sinani, Senior Manager of Public Relations and CSR in Oman LNG Development Foundation.
