Dubai Supreme Council of Energy Unveils 5th Emirates Energy Award 2023–2025 in Muscat
The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy announced the launch of the 5th Emirates Energy Award 2023-2025 in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Emirates Energy Award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the theme “Empowering Carbon Neutrality.”
The press conference held at The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat Resort recently, featured key participants, including Eng. Faisal Ali Rashid – Senior Director, Demand Side Management and Ali Al Suwaidi, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Media, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Vice Chairman of the Marketing and Events Committee of Emirates Energy Award (EEA).
HE Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of Emirates Energy Award (EEA), stated, “We are pleased to launch the fifth cycle of the Emirates Energy Award 2023-2025 in the Sultanate of Oman, a leading country in advancing sustainable energy strategies and adopting innovative solutions to meet the growing energy demand. This step aligns with the award’s objectives of encouraging innovation, driving the development of renewable energy technologies, and supporting initiatives that contribute to carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability.”
At the conference, Eng. Faisal Ali Rashid stated, “Since its launch, the award has attracted high-quality entries from various countries, and we have witnessed outstanding projects from Oman, which is striving for a transformative shift in the energy sector by expanding renewable energy sources and enhancing grid efficiency. We look forward to receiving more exceptional Omani projects that will contribute to advancing sustainability and addressing climate change challenges.”
Oman continues its efforts to solidify sustainability in the energy sector by implementing strategic and high-impact projects aimed at meeting the growing demand for electricity, enhancing resource efficiency, and increasing reliance on renewable energy sources. These projects contribute to multiple benefits, including creating new job opportunities, reducing environmental impact, and achieving energy self-sufficiency, ensuring a more sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.
Eng. Faisal Ali Rashid highlighted the importance of the award in recognising pioneering and innovative projects that contribute to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, emphasising that both the public and private sectors play a crucial role in developing a sustainable energy ecosystem. The region, including Oman is on track to achieve its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
“The Emirates Energy Award serves as a global platform that showcases best practices in the energy sector and promotes research and development in sustainable technologies. At the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, we take pride in honouring outstanding efforts, and we look forward to seeing more Omani innovations that drive the sustainable transformation of the energy sector.”
Ali Al Suwaidi emphasised that the award provides a global platform to recognise projects and initiatives that make a positive impact on the energy sector. He also noted that the award enhances competitiveness among institutions and innovators, highlighting achievements in energy management and efficiency, thereby supporting regional and international efforts toward a more sustainable future.
Oman is distinguished by its pioneering projects in sustainable energy, strengthening the opportunities for Omani institutions to compete in the Emirates Energy Award. With the launch of the fifth cycle in Muscat, this edition is expected to witness a significant increase in Omani participation, particularly in the Innovation and Sustainability categories.
