The Committee in charge of studying and fixing the sale price of oil products in the Sultanate on Monday held a meeting and approved a number of procedures including the new pricing for oil products (regular, super and diesel).
Eng. Salim bin Nasser al- Oufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas said that the committee fixed the sale prices of M95 (super petrol) for the period from January 15th to 31st 2016 at 160 Baises. The price for M-990 (regular petrol) was set at 140 Baises and the price of one liter of diesel was set at 160 Baises.
He added in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the aviation fuel price remained unchanged because it is not subsidized by the government. The cooking gas price also remained unchanged.
He affirmed that the sale price will be standard at all petrol stations in the governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate, noting that the committee will hold a meeting at the end of each month to fix the prices monthly and that the committee may maintain the same prices if the global prices are close to the price at the local market.
He also affirmed that the Public Authority for Consumer Protection and the fuel marketing stations will follow up the fuel prices at all petrol stations in the Sultanate to ensure that they comply with the announced prices.
