SAH wins double honours at Dossier Construction Awards & Summit 2026

SAH secured two major honours at the 14th edition of the Dossier Construction Awards & Summit 2026, held on 30 September 2026 at the Sheraton Oman Hotel, recognising its contribution to a landmark cultural development and the leadership driving the company’s growth.

SAH received the Best Project Design award for the Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex, while Sojan Varghese – Chief Executive Officer of SAH, received the Business Leader of the Year – Construction award.

The event was graced by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Mutawa, Undersecretary of Urban Planning at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, as Chief Guest. His Excellency Shaikh Salim bin Mustahail Al Mashani, Honourable Dr. Hussain Sulaiman Mohamed Al Salmi, senior industry leaders and distinguished guests also attended.

The two awards highlight SAH’s capabilities in delivering complex developments and its investment in the people, systems and engineering expertise needed to support Oman’s evolving built environment.

A landmark for culture and knowledge

The Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex, located at Airport Heights in Muscat, brings together Oman’s heritage, knowledge and performing arts within an integrated national destination. The RO 147.8 million development occupies a 400,000-square-metre site, with approximately 100,000 square metres of built-up area.

Being undertaken for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the project is being delivered by the SAH, as the Design & Build main contractor.

At the heart of the masterplan are three national institutions: the National Theatre, National Library and National Archives. The theatre incorporates a 1,000-seat main auditorium and a flexible 250-seat theatre, supported by specialist stage, acoustic and technical systems. The National Library is designed to accommodate up to one million books within a 23,000-square-metre facility, while the National Archives comprises 22,500 square metres dedicated to preserving and managing Oman’s documentary heritage.

A prominent Central Plaza connects the complex’s cultural facilities. A Children’s Library, House of Arts, House of Cinema, Literary Forum, exhibition halls, fine arts areas, landscaped gardens and cafés extend its role as a destination for learning, creativity and community engagement.

The Best Project Design award recognises the integration of these diverse functions within a contemporary architectural identity inspired by Oman’s cultural heritage. The design combines sophisticated technical systems, large-span engineering and extensive public spaces to support the complex’s long-term cultural, educational and tourism objectives.

Leadership supporting transformation and growth

Mr. Sojan Varghese’s Business Leader of the Year – Construction award honours his role in strengthening SAH’s organisational capabilities and guiding its expansion into increasingly complex assignments.

Since joining the company in 2012, he has led its operations, strategic development, systems, client relationships and business expansion. His leadership has supported the development of capabilities across Design & Build, engineering, procurement and construction, civil and structural works, MEP, infrastructure and project management.

At SAH, Mr. Varghese’s priorities have included stronger governance, disciplined project controls, cross-functional accountability and integrated digital systems, including coordination supported by Building Information Modelling.

He has also promoted structured training, mentoring and knowledge transfer, creating opportunities for Omani professionals across technical and corporate functions. These initiatives support a business approach that connects commercial growth with workforce development, quality, safety and responsible project delivery.

Established in 1994, SAH has delivered more than 400 projects and has a workforce exceeding 5,000.

Instituted by Dossier magazine, published by United Media Services, part of Muscat Overseas Group, the awards recognise excellence across construction, infrastructure, real estate, design, engineering and construction materials. Launched in 2007, Dossier is Oman’s first business-to-business publication dedicated to these sectors.
