On the second day, the rally starts in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, going through Al Wusta Governorate, then proceeding to Mirbat in Dhofar Governorate.
On the third day, the Gumball 3000 march will start in Mirbat and go through the Hasak-Shuwaymiyah coastal road to Duqm and continue on to Muscat, arriving at the Royal Opera House Muscat and Maritime Square in the evening.
There, participants will spend an evening exploring and learning about the most important cultural, heritage and tourism sites of the Sultanate of Oman.
Hisham Juma Al Sinani, Director General of Sports Welfare and Development at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, said that hosting this event comes in line with the ministry’s priorities to host international competitions, events and championships to maximise the objectives of Oman’s soon-to-be-announced sports strategy to promote sports tourism as a contribution to sports, economic and sustainable development.
Al Sinani added: “Gumball 3000 is one of the international tourism and entertainment events that enjoys great public interest among motor car fans. The event has gained regional and international popularity with the participation of many prominent riders and personalities of international repute.
“We have worked with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Information, the Royal Oman Police, the Oman Automobile Association and relevant organisations such as the Royal Opera House Muscat to coordinate the event, in addition to the authorities overseeing tourist sites associated with the circuit.”
