Omanisation of Additional Professions To Commence From 20th July
Muscat: The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Directorate General of Labour in North Al Batinah Governorate, has announced that it will commence the implementation of the Ministerial Resolutions 8/2021 and 9/2021, which were issued in January regarding Omanisation.
The decision had restricted certain professions exclusively for Omani citizens in the private sector, beginning July 20th, 2021.
- Article 1 states that practising professions and activities from the following list is restricted to Omani Citizens only:
- Financial and administrative professions in insurance companies and companies operating in brokerage activities.
- Insurance.
- Selling, accounting, money exchange, management, and arranging goods in operating stores in malls.
- Accounts auditing professions in auto agencies.
- All professions in the sale of new and used vehicles.
- All accounting professions related to selling new and used vehicles in agencies.
- Selling spare parts for new vehicles belonging to auto agencies.
- Professions of driving vehicles – of any kind – including:
- Fuel transportation.
- Transportation of agricultural materials.
- Transporting food.
2. Article 2 states the issuance of non-Omani workforce recruitment licenses and issued work permits for professions and activities specified in Article 1 of this decision until its expiry date.
3. Article 3 said that laws that contradict this decision or its provisions shall be repealed.
4. Article 4 said this decision shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall be enforced after six months from the date of its publication.
