Oman Entrepreneurs Graduate From Shell ‘Intilaaqah’ Training Programme

Oman Shell has celebrated the conclusion of the revamped Shell ‘Intilaaqah’ training programme for the year 2021, which included the participation of 22 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The programme, which was launched in August, also celebrated the winner of the Shell LiveWIRE global Top Ten Innovators competition.
The month-long, intensive training program included certified courses in the fields of sustainability, solar panel installation, health, safety, and environment, as well as topics on entrepreneurship, marketing, branding management, change management, quality management, work ethics, and other topics related to financial management and procurement.
The programme also focused on advocating best business practices in the energy sector.
Commenting on the programme, Walid Hadi, Oman Shell Country Chairman, said: “Acknowledging the role of SMEs in acting as a catalyst to economic growth, the Shell Intilaaqah programme is in line with Oman Shell’s vision to support entrepreneurs and SMEs, and empower them to achieve sustainable growth.
“As part of Oman Shell’s social investment programme, we remain committed to adapting our initiatives to suit the needs of the dynamically changing energy sector locally, and internationally. By providing the local youth with necessary avenues to enhance their skills and capabilities, we will continue to motivate individuals to optimise the use of energy and focus on sustainable development, which is aligned to the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.”
Incorporating practical examples into theoretical concepts, the programme hosted seasoned speaker sessions where participants were provided with materials they could implement in their day-to-day business operations.
Participants who have completed the programme received a Solar Electric Design and Installation certificate (PV101) which is considered one of the pre-requisites laid down by the Oman Authority for Public Services Regulation.
Jasim Al Ajmi, Social Investment and Performance Manager at Oman Shell, said: “Oman Shell is proud of the success of its Intilaaqah programme.
“Since its launch in Oman, more than 25 years ago, it has continued to have a positive impact on the local community by encouraging entrepreneurs and SMEs to constantly develop their businesses and achieve their ambitious goals.
“Over the past five years, the programme has trained more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, established nearly 100 new projects, and provided technical support to 280 existing projects. The programme has, therefore, collectively contributed to more than 1,200 jobs.”
As part of its social investment strategy, Oman Shell has implemented a range of programs and initiatives geared at promoting education, science and innovation, and conservation of the environment.
Through various such initiatives, Oman Shell has been successful in building the capabilities of individuals, communities, and SMEs while raising awareness about the culture and heritage of the country and promoting road safety.
