London Heathrow Airport strike: Oman Air issues advisory

London Heathrow Airport will see a cancellation of 177 flights on Monday and Tuesday after talks between the Union and Heathrow Management stalled over the pay offer. Around 4,000 Unite members including engineers, firefighters, and security staff voted on the airport’s revised deal, with 88 per cent opting to strike. According to Unite, almost 2,500 staff will miss work if the walk-outs go ahead. Also, talks aimed at averting a separate strike by British Airways pilots are to continue next week.
While the airport has not said which flights will be cancelled, it has asked the passengers to check with their airlines and that affected passengers might be offered other flights or refunds.
Meanwhile, Oman Air, Sultanate’s national carrier, issued an advisory earlier this evening asking passengers to take note of the strike and carry minimum hand luggage. It also advised that the passengers arrive at the airport as early as possible.
The airline has requested that passengers continue to monitor the official website and social media channels for the latest updates on Oman Air operations.
