A go-getter

Adam Al Jabry, Senior Social Media Officer at Alizz Islamic Bank, is an ingenious communication professional with ambitious plans for his professional success. But outside the job, he is a diehard Liverpool FC fan, a bibliophile, a techie and much more
Coming from a business and communications background, Adam Al Jabry started off his career as a media and events coordinator with a leading local events management company. He then used his growing expertise in applying strategy and communications solutions to move into the marketing, advertising and public relations sector. Adam spent several years widening his horizons and honing his skillset in marketing, communications and public relations by working at a leading public relations agency in Oman. During this time, he had the privilege to work with a vast variety of clients from across the sectors such as oil and gas, banking, tourism, telecommunications and state-owned entities. This helped him assumed his current role in the strategic development of the marketing and corporate communications department at Alizz Islamic Bank.
“My biggest strength is that I have strong self-belief and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines while maintaining quality and focus,” says Adam. “I love to learn and help others learn and I’m proud that I have the drive to effectively lead team activities by motivating and engaging members to bring out their best. I thrive on my flexibility to handle changes in marketing and digital marketing trends and developing a very supportive team that believes in the overall vision and mission of Alizz Islamic Bank. I have extremely strong digital communication skills and solid attention to detail to fit the task and requirements of a specific audience. I also pride myself on my customer service skills and my ability to resolve what could be difficult situations as my years of experience have enabled me to learn to effectively understand and resolve customer issues.”
Adam’s biggest source of inspiration and constant encouragement to excel in life and profession is none other than his better half. “My biggest influence, my best friend, and my most encouraging champion is my wife,” he avers. “On top of helping me chart my path to success she constantly amazes me with her dedication and commitment towards the betterment of not just herself but the world as a whole.”
And one of his biggest role models is Steve Jobs, whom he describes as ‘arguably the most influential mind to ever come out of Silicon Valley’. He furthers: “And from the first time I touched the keyboard of a Macintosh II as a child I began to devour knowledge about Apple’s game-changing technology and his passion for changing the world. He was a true leader with exemplary visionary leadership.”
Adam calls his experience with Alizz Islamic Bank as ‘wonderful and rewarding’. “The bank has a young and dynamic team that is dedicated to providing the best customer experience in the Sultanate,” he says. “It has been my aspiration and passion to raise the profile of Alizz Islamic Bank in Oman and ensure that we are at the forefront of regional and International business trends in particular with regards to online presence, and data analytics and so far the journey has been excellent. I have learnt a lot from working in this exemplary organisation under the mentorship and leadership of so many experienced and talented individuals.”
Adam says he thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience with NTI BizPro awards 2016. “It was a privilege to represent Alizz Islamic Bank and the successful young generation of Oman,” he adds. “The overall experience from the aptitude test to the case studies really inspired me to work even harder to be in a leadership role where I would be able to lead, guide and help other Omanis to excel. This is an ongoing process for me and I consider myself lucky to have been a part of it.”
Learn from your mistakes
Asked about his advice to young Omanis, who are looking at embarking upon a career, he says, “Believe in yourself, embrace mistakes, and never stop learning. Self-confidence and self-assurance in your own abilities are the qualities you need to develop early on. You are part of the wonderful Omani community and need to not only have a passion, but a belief that you and your skillset are making something special that other people will benefit from. Making mistakes is inevitable, therefore you have to learn from these mistakes instead of letting them bring you down. Additionally, one of the best things about life is that we never have to stop learning. There are always new skills to learn and techniques for us to adopt. When you look at
the most successful people in
the world, they understand that you have to continuously learn
to be successful.”
A diehard Liverpool FC fan, Adam has the honour of being one of the founding members of the official Liverpool FC supporters Clubs in Oman, Bahrain and Qatar. He likes to spend match days organising meet-ups for these clubs and developing media content for the fan pages. He is also a bibliophile and a techie so he spends a lot of his time reading books and discovering the latest innovation from Apple and other tech giants.
His long-term goals involve growing with Alizz Islamic Bank where he can continue to learn, take on additional responsibilities, and contribute as much of value as he can. He sees himself as a top performing leader in the bank and plans to enhance his skills and continue his involvement in raising the profile of the bank further.
