Stockpile Skywards Tier Miles with everyday spends and Fly Better with Emirates

18 May 2020, Dubai, UAE: The world is changing rapidly, and as a responsible airline loyalty programme, Emirates Skywards is keeping pace. Members can now earn 25% bonus Tier Miles, not just Skywards Miles, on everyday spends online and at retail outlets in the UAE during these challenging times. The initiative is a first from Emirates Skywards, and it joins less than a handful of global airline loyalty programmes offering a similar benefit.
Tier Miles are normally linked to miles flown and determine tier status – Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum. But by earning Tier Miles on everyday spends, even without flying, members can now step up each tier quicker, unlock many more travel benefits, and go places with better comforts when Emirates resumes services.
Silver, Gold and Platinum members will have peace of mind as they now have many more ways to retain their status after Emirates Skywards relaxed their policies even further. From 1 May, members with a tier review date prior to 1 April 2021 will retain their current status for a further 12 months with just 70% of the usual travel criteria.
As online shopping gains traction and the UAE eases restrictions, all members have to do to earn Tier Miles is to use their Emirates Skywards co-branded credit cards and apps: Skywards Everyday and Namshi, from the online fashion retailer. The co-branded credit cards include those from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Citi UAE, Emirates Islamic, Emirates NBD, Dubai Islamic Bank and RAKBANK. With the Skywards Everyday app, members earn Skywards Miles at their favourite retail, entertainment and dining outlets across the UAE.
Dr Nejib Ben Khedher, Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Skywards said: “Extraordinary times call for mature and responsible measures. Right through these unprecedented times, we’ve kept listening to our members’ feedback. We’ve made it easy and simple for our UAE-based members to earn Skywards Miles and Tier Miles, retain or upgrade their tier status, and get ready to travel in extra comfort when Emirates resumes services. We understand our members’ sentiment, and we will continue to introduce benefits that they truly value. This initiative is not just an Emirates Skywards first, but a bold move and a novel airline loyalty concept for the region.”
Members gain one bonus Tier Mile for every four Skywards Miles they earn until 31 July 2020 and have the opportunity to earn up to 25,000 Tier Miles. Members can view all the details as well as the terms and conditions on the Emirates App, www.emirates.com/skywards or click here.
Members will continue to earn Skywards Miles through their spends, and these can be redeemed for reward tickets, upgrades, tickets for concerts and sports events, money-can’t-buy experiences, and to reduce the cash component when booking flight tickets.
