Mazda 3 wins 2020 “World Car Design Of The Year” title
Recently, the prestigious Japanese vehicle manufacturer Mazda was honoured to have their Mazda 3 model win the highly coveted 2020 “World Car Design of the Year” title at the World Car Awards (WCA).
This was the second of the manufacturer’s models to be handed the “World Car Design of the Year” title, following their Mazda MX-5 winning the award in 2016.
The annual World Car Awards have now been recognised as the number one awards program in the world for the seventh consecutive year (based on Prime Research’s 2019 media report), and they serve to recognise, reward and inspire excellence, leadership and innovation in a rapidly changing global automotive industry. The 2020 edition consisted of a judging panel of 86 highly respected journalists from over 25 different countries.
With the World Car Design of the Year award’s stated aim to highlight new vehicles with innovation and style that push established boundaries, the all-new Mazda 3 performed exceptionally.
Imbued with Mazda’s Kodo “Soul of Motion” design philosophy, both the Mazda 3 sedan and sportswagon models manifest their own strikingly beautiful and dynamic personalities while staying true to the unifying Mazda theme. “Breathing life into the car. That’s Mazda Design philosophy,” the Japanese manufacturer proudly states.
Taking inspiration from Japanese aesthetics, Mazda adopted a “beauty through subtraction” approach when designing the Mazda 3 and stripped away superfluous elements from the vehicle’s natural form. The result is a unique design that creates subtle undulations of light and shadows gliding over its smooth body – and which give birth to a natural and powerful expression of vitality.
In 2020, Mazda marks one hundred years of its existence. During this time, they have continuously aimed to brighten people’s lives by designing and bringing into existence cars that provide exceptional driving pleasure – and that car-loving customers will want to treasure and hold on to for as long as possible.
In March of this year, a total of six of Mazda’s vehicle models were also awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ award – the highest safety rating handed out by the organisation. In the Sultanate of Oman, the award-winning Mazda 3 can be viewed and test-driven at the nine Towell Auto Centre (TAC) showrooms located across the country.
