Liva Insurance partnered with the Oman Diabetes Association to support a community-driven awareness initiative aimed at addressing the growing challenges of diabetes and obesity in the Sultanate. Held on Thursday, April 9th at Qurum Natural Park, the event brought together healthcare experts, partners, and members of the public in a shared effort to promote healthier lifestyles.
Organized in conjunction with World Obesity Day, the initiative was delivered in collaboration with the National Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Diseases and the World Obesity Federation, highlighting the importance of early intervention, education, and sustained lifestyle changes. With Ministry of Health statistics indicating that 35.2% of individuals in Oman are affected by obesity and a further 31.4% are overweight, the initiative served as a timely and impactful platform to address these concerns.
The event featured a series of engaging activities, including real-life patient stories, interactive awareness stations covering nutrition, physical activity, and treatment options, as well as a community walk aimed at promoting active living and encouraging collective responsibility toward better health.
Through its participation, Liva Insurance reinforced its role as more than just an insurer, positioning itself as a partner in health and well-being. By supporting initiatives that empower individuals with knowledge and access to preventive care, Liva Insurance continues to contribute to building a healthier and more resilient society.
Commenting on the initiative, Chief Executive Officer Hanaa Al Hinai said, “At Liva Insurance, we believe that prevention is the foundation of a healthier future. Diabetes and obesity are among the most pressing health challenges facing our communities today, and addressing them requires collective awareness, early action, and sustained commitment. Through our partnership with the Oman Diabetes Association, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and support they need to take control of their health and lead better, more active lives.”
This initiative forms part of Liva Insurance’s broader commitment to community health, aligning with its mission to redefine insurance by supporting customers beyond coverage—through care, education, and impactful partnerships that drive positive change in society.
