Taxi Owners Mandated To Register With Licensed Applications In Phases

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced details of a timetable to implement its decision requiring taxi owners to join applications licensed by the ministry.
Three timeframes have been set out for the implementation of the plan: the first phase begins on 1 October 2023 and it applies to the segment of taxi drivers operating in the airports of Oman.
The second phase begins on 1 November 2023 and it pertains to taxis serving tourist complexes, hotels, commercial centres and ports.
The third phase will start on 1 January 2024 and it is related to general street roaming taxis coloured white and orange.
