Oman To Host 3rd Arab Competition Forum

Muscat: The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman, the League of Arab States (LAS), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the International Trade Center (ITC), are organizing the 3rd Arab Competition Forum. The forum will be held from Tuesday 24th to Wednesday 25th May 2022 at 9 AM.
In a special session on “Arab Youth in Competition” on 24 May at 7 p.m., an award will be granted to the winners of a competition challenge, which was launched last March in Oman. Watch the livestreaming here.
The Third Arab Competition Forum is organized by ESCWA, in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the International Trade Center, the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Oman.
The two-day event will build on the momentum of the first and second forums. Competition authorities, government officials, experts and academics, both from within and beyond the Arab region, are gathering to discuss the future of competition policy.
The Forum is an important platform for advancing advocacy, knowledge and capacity-building regarding best practices in competition. It aims to strengthen collaboration and coordination between competition authorities and to contribute towards improving economic growth and governance. The Forum, guided by international best practices, aims to collect concrete recommendations on future activities related to advancing and enforcing competition policy and thereby inform competition policymaking in the Arab region.
Venue: Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Muscat, Oman and online via Zoom. Click here to register.
Participants: The opening session of the Forum will feature:
- Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States;
- Mr. Qais Mohammed Moosa Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Oman;
- Ms. Rola Dashti, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA.
