MTCIT Studying Possibilities For Metro Rail Project
Muscat: A study is underway to assess the requirement for a metro in Muscat, as well as a railway network in the Sultanate, Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport (MTCIT), Communications and Information Technology stated at the 9th Media Forum yesterday.
“In case of the metro, there is a committee that is studying the possibility and the necessity of a metro for Muscat,” he said. “This committee has recently sent us their first report. Once they conclude their work, we would know the possibility of metro for Muscat, and when, if possible.
“As far as a train is concerned, this year, we at the ministry are adamant to reconsider the possibility of the rail project in Oman, and the how,” he added. “So there will be some focus this year about the rail project.”
