Ministry of Social Development Inks 8 Agreements
Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development here today signed 8 agreements with private establishments that support community programmes. It also honored government and community units which contributed to social responsibility programmes.
The event was held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Kamil Fahd Al Said.
Two agreements were signed between the ministry and Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO). The first agreement deals with funding the construction of Al Wafa’a centre for the rehabilitation of people with disability to the tune of RO 220,000. The second agreement is on developing Al Aman rehabilitation centre at Al Khoudh with a total cost of RO 118,000.
The two agreements were signed by Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Khalid Mohammed Al Fannah Al Araimi, OMIFCO’s Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communication.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the ministry and Oman LNG’s Development Foundation on the continuation of cooperation in social responsibility fields, training programmes and setting up projects and initiatives that achieve maximum benefit to a large segment of the society.
Al Shamsi also signed an agreement with Dr. Amir Nasser Al Mata’ni, CEO of Oman LNG’s Development Foundation on funding the construction of a workshop for blacksmithing and carpentry.
Another agreement was signed by Al Shamsi with Dr. Omar Salim Al Jaidi, General Manager of ARA Petroleum company on funding the setting up of a specialized workshop for blacksmithing and carpentry at the evaluation and vocational training centre of the Ministry of Social Development.
An agreement worth RO 144,000 was signed between the ministry and Al Jisr Foundation. This agreement aims to achieve joint cooperation in the field of empowerment projects for social security families and people with limited-income.
This was followed by a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) worth RO 144,000 signed between the ministry and Al Jisr Foundation aimed at achieving joint cooperation in the implementation of empowerment projects targeting social security families and low-income families. The MoC also deals with cooperation in assisting urgent cases.
The event also included the signing of an agreement between the Association of Early Intervention and Khimji Ramdas company to fund the establishment of a vocational centre worth RO 144,000 at the headquarters of the Association of Early Intervention.
The seventh agreement was signed between Mitsui E and P Middle East BV Company and Al Noor Association for the Blind to provide prosthetic devices and training blind job seekers to the tune of RO 33,000.
Mitsui E and P Middle East BV Company also signed an agreement to provide physiotherapy equipment and devices worth RO 30,000 for the Children with Disability Association.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest honored 36 establishments which supported social development programmes.
The event was attended by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, several ministers, undersecretaries and high ranking officials representing the private sector.
