Sleepless in Australia: Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson Have Coronavirus

American Actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilison, his wife, have tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) while filming in Australia.
The 63-year-old actor and his wife are currently on the Gold Coast in Queensland for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic.
In a tweet on Thursday, Hanks said that he and his wife Rita had been feeling “a bit tired, like we had colds.. ” They arranged to be tested for the virus and had been “found to be positive”.
Hanks, who had announced in 2013 that he had Type 2 Diabetes, added, “Well, now. What to do next? The medical officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety are required. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”
Hank’s son Chet also posted a video on Instagram saying he had spoken to his parents and while they were “not tripping”, he said, “they’re going through the necessary health precautions obviously. I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about, I appreciate everyone’s concern and good wishes but I think it’s all going to be alright.”
Cast and crew attached to the film had been asked to stay away from the set after a member of the production team also tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, the premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has been quoted as saying that health officials would trace steps to see who had been in contact with Hanks and Wilson.
“People who have come in close contact with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson will now need to self isolate and quarantine,” she was quoted as saying and added that they would both receive “the best treatment in our hospital”.
