OCTAL Supports Youth Leadership Program At Salalah Vocational College
Muscat: As part of its commitment to engage in community-focused projects, OCTAL has lent its support to a Youth Leadership Programme run by international training consultant company, Creative People Solutions (CPS).
Held at the Salalah Vocational College, the initiative offered 20 young graduates the chance to take part in a 5-day skill-building course, helping them to improve their leadership capabilities and prepare for the world of work.
Playing a key role in the Sultanate’s economic diversification plan and as a major employer, the Salalah-based PET manufacturer is active in a number of initiatives that focus on enhancing the skillsets of the next generation, while promoting home-grown talent.
The course is designed to support youth in discovering the ‘5 Cs’ of leadership development including Character, Competence, Choices, Connections and Commitment.
OCTAL’s Director of Government Affairs Eng. Ahmed Al Najjar said: “At OCTAL we believe that the private sector has a vital role to play in empowering the local community, particularly when it comes to young people, who are integral to the future social and economic development of the Sultanate.
“Our collaboration with CPS is one of a series of local projects we have invested in. Offering a unique opportunity to not only learn important work skills, but foundational life skills such as integrity and self-discipline, the program aims to significantly accelerate the skillsets required by those entering the employment market, increase their success rate, and in the long term, make them better leaders.”
OCTAL is committed to creating long-term value for Oman, positioning the Sultanate at the forefront of knowledge-transfer and innovative technology in the manufacturing industry.
Its community-focused CSR strategy includes various training and leadership development initiatives focused on equipping community members with vocational knowledge and skills, while emphasising OCTAL’s vision of building a world-class manufacturing industry in Oman that is dedicated to systematically hiring and developing home-grown talent across all departments.
