Job Security System Benefits To Be Given From November In Oman

Muscat: The supervision committee of the Job Security System (JSS) called upon private sector employees entitled to the JSS benefits, whose services were terminated beyond their will, to apply to the prescribed benefits via the portal of the Ministry of Labour, the portal of the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) and the website of the General Federation of Oman Trade Unions.
The applications will begin to be received with effect from the 1st of November and the benefits will be given out on dates of monthly pensions, said the Labour Ministry (MoL), which laid emphasis on applicants’ meeting the terms and conditions set in the JSS.
An electronic application has been designed to help the insured to know whether or not they are entitled. This aims to save the applicants’ time and spare them the need to visit the offices of departments concerned (MoL and PASI), particularly amid the prevalence of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The system will ensure basic welfare for employees whose services were terminated—to provide livelihood needs for them and their families and to train them so that they could get new employment opportunities.
The phase of benefits for entitled persons comes as part of a package of incentives via the JSS and it will have a positive effect on the social stability of national manpower in all sectors of work. It will also activate the policy of employment in accordance with established regulations.
Also, on the principle of exchanged roles in this national project, it has been decided that each authority will undertake a certain role: While the MoL registers the names of terminated employees—offers them jobs and trains them, the PASI distributes benefits to entitled persons and takes care of subscriptions and JSS financial resources and investments.
