How To Apply For Subsidies On Electricity, Water And Fuel In Oman?
As the Sultanate switches into a transitional phase for achieving its goals set under the Medium-Term Fiscal Plan for Vision 2040, Oman restructured its subsidy system for water and electricity services.
The revamped subsidy structure will come into effect from January 1, 2020, and is expected to upgrade the efficiency of government spending and the social security system in what is now being hailed by experts as a ‘strong move to fortify the nation’s economy’.

These incentives will be provided through direct subsidies that represent 33 per cent of the value of the bill, up to a specific consumption ceiling of 4,000kWh/month for electricity. A similar mechanism will be applied to water in the coming months.
Here’s how you can apply to be a part of the NSS:
Step 1: Head to the National Subsidy System website or download the mobile application from the link available on the website.
Step 2: The National Subsidy System is by default in Arabic with an option to switch to English.
Step 3: Click on Register Button to proceed with the registration.
Step 4: The Registration Process of the National Subsidy System (NSS) would use your Civil Number to verify your credentials with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) Records.
Step 5: Upon successfully verifying, you are required to proceed to the login access to the NSS Portal or the NSS Mobile application where you would need to submit the Subsidy Application.
Your registration on the National Subsidy System (NSS) for Fuel/Electricity & Water Subsidy will be considered completed as soon as you enter the received OTP on the Registration Form, and create the password to Login to the NSS application.
