HM The Sultan Gives Audience to Iran’s Speaker of Parliament

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Barakah Palace today to Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who was accompanied by Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

At the outset of the audience, the guest conveyed the greetings of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his good wishes to His Majesty and the Omani people for continued progress and prosperity. He expressed his country’s appreciation—as a leadership, government, and people – for the wise approach pursued by the Sultanate of Oman and its constructive role, under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan, in supporting paths of dialogue, reducing tension, and promoting opportunities for peace and stability in the region.

For his part, His Majesty the Sultan asked the guest to convey his greetings to Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader and Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His Majesty also wished the Iranian leadership and people continued security, stability, and prosperity.

During the audience, the latest developments in the Iran-US negotiations were reviewed. His Majesty the Sultan listened to the Iranian side’s clarifications across the various tracks of the talks. His Majesty conveyed his support and expressed his earnest hopes for the success of these negotiations, leading to reach a peaceful and definitive settlement of all outstanding issues, foremost among them the restoration of safe and unhindered navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear file and other related matters and challenges.

From the Omani side, the audience was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinai, Ambassador-at-large at the Foreign Ministry. From the Iranian side, it was attended by Mousa Farhang, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Sultanate of Oman, and a number of officials.
