Bank Dhofar Demonstrates Solidarity with Families Affected by “Shaheen”

Muscat: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, and in support of the national efforts to contain the effects of the Tropical Cyclone Shaheen, the Board of Directors of BankDhofar has approved the contribution of OMR 500,000 to be distributed to families impacted by the latest tropical condition. The bank has also allocated OMR 10 Million as interest-free loans for affected customers and announced deferment of loan instalments for up to 5 months.
On this initiative, Abdul Hakeem Omar Al Ojaili, CEO of BankDhofar, reiterated the bank’s ongoing commitment to philanthropy causes and pro-bono activities that contribute to the welfare of the community. “BankDhofar has always been at the forefront in giving support to various social and economic causes. The tropical Cyclone Shaheen resulted in catastrophic damages in properties; thus, in demonstration of our support of the national efforts to contain the effects of the cyclone, the Board of Directors approved the contribution of OMR 500,000 for the affected families. This comes in addition to OMR 10 Million to be allocated as interest-free loans for affected customers, as well as deferment option on loan instalments for up to 5 months.”
The donated amount will be processed in coordination with one of the local charitable organizations to ensure proper distribution is in place. Those affected by the cyclone can also benefit from the OMR 10 Million allocated by the bank with no interest, no processing fees, no insurance fees or prepayment fees. The bank has also announced loan deferment facility for up to 5 months. Customers may visit their nearest branch to apply for the loan and for the deferment starting from 14 October 2021.
This initiative highlights BankDhofar’s leading role in supporting to various social and economic causes. The bank had provided support during previous cyclones that hit the Sultanate, including Cyclone Gonu and Cyclone Mekunu, and caused drastic damages to the infrastructure and affected families. BankDhofar continues to deliver on its commitment by launching several strategic sustainable CSR initiatives, ensuring sustainable benefit and on-going development, while simultaneously strengthening its ties with the local community.
