How GDM Interiors Stood Out in Fit Out

The fit out industry in the United Arab Emirates has changed a lot since 1988, the year GDM Interiors started its operations from Dubai. And naturally, the company too learnt to adapt and evolve. Three decades later, it is a sought-out name in the interior design and fit out and joinery manufacturing industry, targeting to more than double its turnover to nearly AED 50 million by 2020.
Vishal Motwani, GDM Interiors’ managing director, says the growth has come on the back of the firm’s mantra of minimalism and giving attention to small details using design technologies, visible in projects for its clients in F&B, hospitality & leisure and retail and commercial segments.

“It takes creativity and innovation to create something that gives people a new experience as soon as they walk through the door. And we have been able to achieve this through technology, experience and commitment to excellence. We must be doing something right for customers to keep on giving us repeat business,” says Motwani.
The company runs a state-of-the-art 40,000 sq ft factory and has more than 100 employees, which includes technical designers and engineers.
GDM Interiors’ well-known projects include premium perfume store Roger and Gallet, Sensasia Spa in Golden Mile, Safari Jewels showroom and Aji Club Vista Mare in Palm Jumeirah. Its ongoing projects are Hamac at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Kanz Jewellers, Marquee and The Nail Spa at DIFC. Other projects in the pipeline are at Dubai Mall and the Mall of the Emirates. The company is also looking to expand to other countries in South East Asia and MENA region.

“Our achievement is rooted to our investment in technology coupled with our investment in our highly qualified and experienced team members,” says Motwani.
According to Motwani, while design trends keep changing every season along with the entry of new fit out materials, the challenge is to stay tuned to the details. “So we pay attention to the details and the big picture takes care of itself,” he says.
GDM Interiors received the Qadat Al Tagheer Award for Excellence in Innovative Fit Out at the 5th UAE-India Economic Forum, organized by BusinessLive Middle East, in Dubai on November 4, 2019.
