Saudi visa scheme: As tourists arrive so does good news for hotel sector
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is said to have received 24,000 visitors within just 10 days from the launch of the new programme, where tourists can get their visa on arrival after applying on the online portal.
According to the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, the governments are looking forward to attracting 100mn tourists annually by 2030; which will have a positive impact on the total GDP of the kingdom raising the contribution of tourism from 3% to 10%.
The new tourist visa programme that came into effect from September earlier this year is available online and on arrival to holidaymakers who already hold a visa from the United States, Britain or the EU’s Schengen zone, expanding eligibility beyond an initial list of 49 countries.

The tourist visa programme has added to the optimism of the Saudi hotel sector with hotels such as Millennium Taiba and Al Aqeeq, both five-star hotels at the heart of Madinah, expecting more visitors to the Kingdom, which will, in turn, boost its tourism sector, attract travel agencies and influence new collaborations.
