Income Tax to be reviewed by Oman’s Majlis Al Shura

The Committee held its 5th regular meeting of the 1st annual sitting (2015–2016) of the 8th term under the chair of Saleh bin Said Masan, Head of the Economic and Financial Committee, on Monday.
The Committee reviewed a range of economic and financial topics in the Sultanate that included the draft amendments to the provisions of the Income Tax Law, the Foreign Capital Investment Law and the Insurance Companies Law, which were referred by the Government and decided to form the working teams.
Food and Water panel
The Food and Water Security Committee at Majlis Al Shura on Monday held its 2nd meeting of the 1st annual sitting (2015–2016) of the 8th term under the chair of Hilal bin Said Al Yahya’ee, Head of the Committee.
The Committee discussed its proposals and visions on its work plan that aims at studying topics and giving opinion on the policies, plans and programmes related to the agriculture, animal wealth, fisheries and water resources sectors. The Committee approved reviewing the Marine Fishing Law and Protection of Live Water Assets issued by the Royal Decree No. 53/ 1981. The Committee also discussed services rendered by the agencies concerned with supporting food commodities in the local market and ensuring that the support received by the local consumers.
The Legislative and Legal Committee at Majlis Al Shura yesterday held its 2nd regular meeting of the 1st annual sitting (2015–2016) of the 8th term under the chair of Dr. Mohammed bin Ibrahim al-Zedjali, Head of the Committee.
The Committee approved minutes of the previous meeting and viewed a presentation on the Committee’s prerogatives while discussing the draft laws and amendments, in addition to reviewing the Committee’s work plan for the current sitting and the topics proposed for study and discussion.
The Education and Scientific Research Committee held its 2nd regular meeting of the 1st annual sitting (2015–2016) of the 8th term under the chair of Khalid bin Yahya Al Far’ei, Head of the Committee.
The Committee viewed a presentation given by the Committee Affairs Office. The presentation reviewed the Committee’s prerogatives in terms of studying the educational policies, plans and programmes, as well as scientific research in the Sultanate, legal systems and procedures regularizing the educational process in the Sultanate.
The Committee reviewed its studies, topics and reports conducted during the 7th term, in addition to discussing the Committee’s work plan for the current sitting and proposing major topics for study.
The Services and Social Development Committee yesterday held its 2nd meeting of the 1st annual sitting (2015–2016) of the 8th term (2015 – 2019) under the chair of Hamoud bin Ahmed al-Yahya’ee, Head of the Committee. The Committee discussed its proposals and visions on its work plan during the current sitting, which aims at studying the developmental and social policies, plans and programmes.
The Committee viewed its prerogatives, work mechanism and prerogatives of the municipal councils. The Committee also reviewed its major achievements and topics studied during the 7th term (2011–2015).
