Is the future vegan? Top trends and behaviours.

What’s common between Ellen DeGeneres, Virat Kohli and David Duchnovy? Yes, they are all celebrities but there’s something else that connects them all – their diet. They all have switched to veganism. And it’s not just the celebrities who are turning into vegans, millennials of today are following suit too.
So, what is a vegan diet?
A vegan diet promotes skipping all forms of animal products including meat, eggs and dairy (Yes, no cow’s milk too).
Why it’s on the rise
There are various reasons for this diet but here are the top three reasons why it is on the rise
1. Zero cruelty to animals: By excluding animal products, you are promoting the rights of animals, which are usually kept as livestock in cruel conditions.
2. Reduces carbon footprint: Thanks to growth of livestock farming in recent years, animals produce more gases like methane and CO2, which leads to the greenhouse effect and global warming.
3. A healthier diet: Meat may contain plenty of harmful bacteria and viruses, which can cause various forms of diseases. Plus, all the excess fat leads to lifestyle diseases like hypertension, cardiovascular disorders and diabetes. Vegans on the other hand face no such issues.
Here are some meaty stats about Veganism:
- Global plant-based milk will reach $21.6 billion by 2022

- A research-based study has predicted that the vegan market in China’s will grow more than 17% between 2015 and 2020

Veganism is rapidly becoming popular by the day especially among millennials. After all, it’s a generation, passionate about causes like global warming and other environmental issues. What do you think about this trend?
