Covid-19 Travel: E-Registrations Open For Those Who Return To India

Indian missions in the UAE have rolled out e-registration for Indians who want to travel back home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi announced the details via Twitter on Wednesday night. “Public Notice for collection of data of Indians in the UAE who wish to travel to India under the present COVID 19 situation. For registration, please visit: https://cgidubai.gov.in/covid_register/” the tweet said.
The tweet was deleted a few minutes later citing ‘technical issues’ with the Consulate General of India in Dubai reposting the link but issuing a caution that it might take time for the page to load due to high volumes of traffic.
The notice posted by the mission on Wednesday night said, “All Indian nationals in the UAE are hereby informed that the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India, Dubai, have uploaded a form for [the] collection of data to create a database of Indians who wish to travel back to India under COVID-19 situation.”
Meanwhile, a Khaleej Times report says that as many as 9,000 Indians have already registered on the online portal collecting data of citizens in the first few hours since its launch on Wednesday.
According to the report, those who registered on the Norka Roots website, which is Kerala State Government’s initiative for non-resident Keralites, will have to re-register on the Indian mission’s website.
