OER Business Summit 2019 on September 25
The tenth edition of OER Business Summit, a flagship event by the Sultanate’s premium business magazine, will take place on September 25, 2019 at Sheraton Oman.
Under the topic ‘Oman: Catalysts for growth’, the summit will reflect on International Monetary Fund’s prediction about Oman becoming the fastest growing economy in the GCC in 2019. It will also deliberate on how certain catalysts for growth can help the Sultanate maintain this economic momentum in the coming years.
OER Business Summit is an annual forum bringing together Oman’s senior government officials, influential policy makers and top-notch corporate for an engaging discussion on policy initiatives, new economic trends, the role of private sector and the changing dynamics of growth in the country.
Petroleum development Oman (PDO), Octal, Omantel, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), Sohar International and Port of Duqm have signed up as the Strategic Partners of OER Business Summit 2019. GBM Oman is the Digital Transformation Partner; Muscat Eye Laser Center the Support Partner; Dhofar Insurance the Insurance Partner; the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) the Endorsing Partner; and Arabian Research Bureau the Survey Partner. Times of Oman and Al Shabiba are the Media Partners; Businessliveme.com Digital Media Partner and Mazoon, the Print Partner.
The IMF’s forecast about Oman’s prospects as the fastest growing economy in the GCC in 2019, comes at a time while it has slashed growth forecasts for the entire Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Oman has a remarkable opportunity to capitalise on this stellar growth and catapult itself as the next economic superpower of the MENA region. This requires the unlocking of the growth potential of sectors in which Oman has a distinct advantage like – manufacturing, logistics, tourism, mining, SME etc. Such efforts need to be backed up by enablers like digitalisation, regulatory changes and a more business friendly environment.
The summit will focus on all such issues and other topics of relevance to the Sultanate’s economy, with two panel discussions titled ‘Actioning growth enablers – An imperative’ and ‘Leveraging Oman’s competitive advantage’, as well as a mix of paper presentations.
A cross section of policy makers and business leaders will bring to the table their wisdom and explore new avenues for diversification and economic growth. The invitees would include around 250 business leaders and decision makers from the government and corporate sector.
OER’s Business Excellence Awards 2019 will also be presented at the Business Summit. The awards will recognise exceptional individuals and corporations that deliver tangible results.
