Sezad, Duqm Smart Business to develop smart office facility
Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (Sezad) and Duqm Smart Business Company signed a usufruct agreement to develop a smart office facility constructed from shipping containers refurbished at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZD).
The agreement was inked for Sezad by chairman of the board Yahya bin Said Al Jabri and for Duqm Smart Business by Maurizio Monte, founding director.
Pursuant to the agreement, Duqm Smart Business will develop the project on the land allocated by Sezad. The first phase of the project will provide 12 smart offices for shared usage by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) companies and start-ups in Duqm.
The first phase of the project has already started and is projected for completion by the year’s end. The new smart office facility provides startups and small companies with a launch pad before moving to larger facilities in other parts of the economic zone.
Al Jabri hailed the abundance of investment opportunities and benefits available at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm, and the pioneering example of Duqm Smart Business Company in facilitating business start-ups and enhancing the business product of the zone.
“Architects and designers from all over the world are embracing the innovative use of these containers. This is an ideal solution for our project in Duqm. The Duqm smart office will be constructed using refurbished freight containers and recycled materials whenever possible. We will also adopt a “local purchasing” philosophy to procure our needs from the local suppliers in Duqm,” said Maurizio Monte.
Duqm Smart Business Company was recently setup to provide real estate and marketing support services to companies and business people coming to Duqm.
