Najla Zuhair Al Jamali Appointed President of bp Oman

bp has announced the appointment of Najla Zuhair Al Jamali as the new President of bp Oman.

Ms. Al Jamali, who brings with her over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, will officially join the company in September 2025 and take over full responsibilities following a transition period with outgoing President Yousuf Al Ojaili, who will retire at the end of the year.

She joins bp from OQ, where she served as the Chief Executive of OQ Alternative Energy. Her distinguished career began in Oman as a reservoir engineer and has since spanned the upstream, downstream, and commercial segments of the industry.

Her professional journey includes leadership roles at global companies such as Shell, Schlumberger, and Takamul Investment Company, a subsidiary of what was formerly Oman Oil Company.

Notably, Ms. Al Jamali becomes the first woman to be appointed to this senior leadership role at bp Oman – a milestone that underscores the company’s evolving commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Nader Zaki, bp’s Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, welcomed the appointment, stating: “I am very pleased to welcome Najla to our team as President of bp Oman. Her wealth of experience will greatly benefit us as we continue to support the growth of the energy sector in Oman.

“This is a historic milestone for bp as Najla is the first female Omani country manager for bp in the country. I would also like to thank Yousuf Al Ojaili for his leadership and congratulate him on his retirement after a decade of excellence with our company and 39 years in the energy sector.”

Commenting on her new role, Al Jamali said: “I’m excited to join bp Oman working with the team to continue supply one third of Oman’s gas and working with the Omani government and partners to explore potential for growing our operations in country.”

Ms. Al Jamali’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for bp as it continues to play a vital role in Oman’s energy landscape. Her extensive background in both traditional and renewable energy sectors positions her to lead bp Oman into its next phase of growth and innovation.
