Labour Ministry Launches Initiative for Employment in Private Health Sector

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has launched an initiative labelled “Badir” (take action) in cooperation with the private sector, to generate employment opportunities.
The initiative seeks to provide 228 employment opportunities, among them 185 in the field of nursing and 43 in the field of dentistry. The opportunities have been unveiled as part of the first stage of the campaign.
Sheikh Nasr Amer Al Hosni, Labour Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, said that the initiative stems from the government’s keenness to forge a partnership with the private sector, being a major pillar of Oman Vision 2040.
Meanwhile, Hilal Hamad Al Sarmi, Head of the Health and Environment Committee at Majlis A’Shura, said that the initiative takes centre stage in the Majlis’s interests.
Represented by the Health and Environment Committee, the Majlis acts in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Health and the private sector, said Al Sarmi, adding that the initiative targets the generation of more than 220 employment opportunities for jobseekers (in the health sector), including dentists, assistant dentists and nurses.
In his turn, Said Mohammed Al Harthy, Head of Social Investment Programmes at Oman LNG, said that “Badir” figures among programmes of in-country value (ICV) envisaged as part of a permanent strategic partnership with the public and private sectors. The overall objective is to support the national economy and find solutions for existing challenges, he added.
The campaign aims to encourage private sector establishments to offer qualitative employment initiatives to jobseekers.
The ceremony was presided over by Hilal Hamad Al Sarmi, Head of the Health and Environment Committee at Majlis A’Shura.
