‘Green Hydrogen Summit’ to be Hosted by Oman in September 2021

Muscat: In a bid to further the momentum of the transition of Oman from a Carbon-based to a Hydrogen – based society, Key stakeholders and leaders have gathered to support the “Oman Green Hydrogen Summit” which, is scheduled to be conducted from September 21st – September 23rd, 2021. This summit aims to provide a thorough strategic overview of commercial and technical strategies aimed at making Oman a leader in the ‘Green Hydrogen’ space.
The summit will be conducted by Birba Energy Services under the auspices of Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals and its Strategic partnership for the summit is with Energy Renewal, in association with Oman Hydrogen Centre.
Highlighting the importance of the summit and the initiative, overall, The Executive Vice President of Energy Renewal – Dr. Abdullah al-Abri commented, “The Oman Green Hydrogen Summit will chart the contours of a roadmap for future industry, underpinned by a wider ecosystem, around green fuels in general and green hydrogen in particular, in the Sultanate. With the newly rebranded Energy Renewal given the government’s mandate to craft a national hydrogen strategy towards this vital goal, we aim to make maximum use of the summit to serve as a platform to bring together all of the players — national and international — that can support the realization of this objective.”
Meanwhile, The Chairman of Birba Energy Services, Abdullah Al-Harthy stated, “This summit aims to create a platform to bring together a variety of sectors such as solar, logistics, technology and more to engage and act upon how we can best achieve Oman’s Green Energy vision. We can jointly play a vital role in the economic diversification and job creation efforts in the Sultanate.”
The aforementioned key stakeholders in this initiative are Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL), Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) — the Sultanate’s Oil and Gas Major, OQ — the Sultanate’s Integrated Global Energy Group, Siemens Energy, and Sustainable Energy Research Centre of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
