Despite the postponing of the 2020 Nürburgring Endurance Series in Germany, Giti Motorsports in partnership with WS Racing continued their motor-racing success recently when they achieved a top ten finish in the exciting Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series.

As an e-Sport “simracing” event, the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series accurately simulates real-life auto racing. To be competitive, simracing drivers must understand all aspects of car handling that make real-world racing so challenging, and it is this level of difficulty that distinguishes it from regular arcade-style motor-racing games.

At the virtual start of the digital version of Nürburgring’s famous “Green Hell” track, drivers and teams competed in a four-hour race against experienced simracing as well as real-life racing professionals.

Competing in the CUP3 Class, the team of Jannik Breidt and Bernd Demmer pushed their Giti liveried Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 to the limit to claim a very respectable tenth spot. The talented all-female “Giti’s Angels” team of Carrie Schreiner, Laura Kraihammer, and Celia Martin also excelled in the event.

The simracing event garnered over 80,000 viewers on its social media platforms, and received many thousands of positive comments from both spectators and teams.

“The rise of eSports has been very well documented, and it’s great to be involved with WS Racing to get our first virtual Giti car out on the digital track,” said Stefan Brohs, Marketing Director Europe at Giti Tire. “It’s very exciting to be involved in the eSports arena, and naturally we will look at how we can use the platform to promote our brands,” he added.

Due to issues relating to the current COVID-19 situation, this year’s 24 Hours Nürburgring motor-racing event will now be going ahead from 24 – 27 September 2020 instead of the original date scheduled earlier in the year. As it races off, the Giti branded team will again look forward to continuing their real-world motor-racing success on the track.
