Vision

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, established the University in 1997 to prepare graduates equipped as researchers, professionals, and leaders who will contribute to the national development and successfully join regional and international workforce.

New strategic plan to improve student experience and provide the best education
The new strategic plan for 2019-2024 focuses on student experience and student success by integrating research, information technology, innovation, extracurricular activities and community service within the curricula. The new strategic plan gives priority to students as an essential pillar for all of its activities because students are the basis of the educational process. The university recruits highly qualified faculty members to deliver the best possible practices and expertise in their respective fields to serve students.

The University is also focusing on developing students’ scientific research abilities in cooperation with prestigious universities and international institutions to ensure an outstanding level of academic and research competencies for university graduates, researchers and faculty members and achieve outstanding results that contribute to the national and international scientific research, development and innovation activities.

Comprehensive University

The University of Sharjah is currently considered one of the largest universities in United Arab Emirates and occupies a prominent, leading position at the national and regional levels according to the latest international classifications. The university is the most comprehensive in UAE with the largest spectrum of programs. The Medical and Health Sciences Campus offers large number of programs in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and health sciences. The science and engineering colleges covers all aspects of science and engineering programs. This is in addition to programs in Shari’s, law, business, Arabic and English languages, history, sociology, communication and fine arts and design programs.

Accreditation and ranking

All university programs are accredited by the Ministry of Education in UAE. Many programs have international accreditation; Science and Engineering programs have ABET accreditation; Business programs have AACSB accreditation and Communication programs have ACEJMC.

The University of Sharjah is now one of the top 100 new universities in the world, and is one of the four strongest universities in the UAE and internationally. The University of Sharjah ranks first in the UAE and the 12th in the Arab world according to the GreenMertric rankings. According to the QS rankings, the University of Sharjah ranks fourth in the UAE, 18th in the Arab world, and 650th in the world. Finally, according to Times Higher Education World University ranking, the University ranks fourth in the country, 29th in the Arab world and 801 in the world.
