Oman’s premium petrol production grows 7%
Oman’s super petrol production in the first 11 months of 2015 registered a growth of 7.4 per cent compared to the same period of last year.

Oman’s super petrol production in the first 11 months of 2015 registered a growth of 7.4 per cent compared to the same period of last year. Regular petrol output, on the other hand, fell 40.6 per cent, according to latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
During the period, the Sultanate produced as much as 21.36 million barrels of super petrol as against 19.90 million barrels last year while regular petrol saw production falling to 1.91 million barrels from prior year’s 3.22 million barrels.
The total output from Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic), which includes petrol, jet fuel, gas and fuel oil, LPG, residual, propylene, naphtha and others posted a 4.4 per cent rise during January -November period of 2015, with volume touching 78.3 million barrels as against 75.02 million barrels posted in the comparable period last year.
Aviation fuel production grew by 2.6 per cent in the first eleven months of 2015 with volume rising to 4.57 million barrels from last year’s 4.45 million barrels. Gas oil rose by 14.3 per cent with a total output of 20.25 million barrels compared to 17.73 million barrels in 2014. Fuel oil, however, declined by 5.7 per cent to 2.28 million barrels from 2.42 million barrels for the same period of last year.
Significantly, LPG output fell by 2.9 per cent with total production during January-November period sliding to 3.41 million barrels from 3.51 million barrels recorded for the same period last year.
Residual oil witnessed a production surge of 5.8 per cent, with output rising to 17.66 million barrels from 16.70 million barrels a year ago. Propylene also went up 0.9 per cent to touch 2.51 million barrels from previous year’s 2.49 million barrels. There had been a rise of 0.7 per cent in the production of SR Naphtha which increased to 3.64 million barrels from 3.61 million barrels earlier.
Production of other products and the refinery fuel declined by 29.3 per cent to 702,600 barrels in the first eleven months of 2015, compared to 994,200 barrels for the same period in 2014.
