Shell Development Oman Provides Training Opportunities Throughout Oman
As part of their social investment initiative, Shell Development Oman (SDO) launched a new season of ”Shell Professional Courses” as part of their Training for Development Programme. The programme consists of a wide range of professional development courses held across the Sultanate. Open to all interested individuals, these sessions empower participants by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools to develop and broaden their professional skillsets.
Designed to create proficiencies which can later be applied across all industries, the programme is year-round and is conducted in various regions across the Sultanate, such as Salalah, Sur, Al Buraimi, Nizwa and Suhar. It allows individuals access to a number of professional courses that address topics including strategic planning, problem-solving, project management, leadership, planning for success and crisis management.
Muna Al Shukaili, Manager of External Relations at SDO said, “There is an enormous amount of potential and drive within young Omanis. We want to ensure that the next generation not only feels empowered but also has an opportunity to foster their skills. This programme focuses on the importance of training local talent by allowing them to develop the capabilities they need to increase their chances of securing jobs.”
She added, “Shell is committed to creating long-lasting value within Oman, and believe that through building capacities, Omani professionals will progress and grow. We will continue to keep working alongside them to identify how we can facilitate their development. With over 3000 participants in the programme over the last 10 years, we have come to depend on the participants to guide us on how we can further develop the courses.”
In 2018, Shell Development Oman has successfully completed the staff empowerment and marketing courses, the first two ‘Shell Professional Courses’ which took place in Muscat and Nizwa. The initiative continues to attract a wide variety of diverse participants ranging from students, members of NGO’s, employees of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as well as those across the public sector.
