Khimji’s Watches has introduced two renowned Swiss brands to their existing portfolio of luxury brands – Alpina and Ateliers deMonaco
We love a good watch and when we heard that two revered watch brands were going to be introduced to Oman by Khimji’s Watches, we were overjoyed. The watch industry, globally, has been facing a slowdown. So, when one of the renowned luxury watch retailers in the country announces the addition of two fantastic brands to their existing line-up, it brings positivity. Khimji Watches launched Alpina and Ateliers deMonaco, two brands that fall under popular Swiss watch brand, Frederique Constant in January this year.
The event, which took place at the Khimji’s Watches showroom in Shatti Qurum, was attended by Anil Khimji and Nailesh Khimji, directors of Khimji Ramdas, Sachin Malhotra, COO, Lifestyle Group and Williams Besse, International Sales Director, Frederique Constant.
Alpina is one of the oldest watch brands in the world and is renowned for its in-house movements. The brand is attributed with having introduced the sports watch in the form we know it today. At the launch in Muscat, the brand’s extremely popular novelty, AlpinerX was showcased.
The AlpinerX is the product of an extremely successful Kickstarter project that raked in over 1.5mn Swiss francs from backers. A hybrid smartwatch, it masterfully juxtaposes design aesthetics with fitness tracking and environmental data from its compass, barometer, altimeter and UV monitor. It is a superbly engineered wearable for the adventurist of today.
Speaking about the connected watch, Williams Besse said, “There are not many novelties of this kind in the industry. We have been able to create a unique and engaging product with the AlpinerX. It is a Swiss-made, outdoor-connected watch that reached record sales in the first month of its launch. We sold over 3000 units in a month. The watch is especially popular among the millennials.”
Ateliers deMonaco is the haute horology arm of Frederique Constant. One of the very few watch brands that have been awarded the Geneva Seal for its creations, Ateliers deMonaco excels in crafting collector’s editions. In Oman, the brand showcased the Admiral Chronographe Flyback Prato. A product of the brand’s collaboration with Prato Automobiles, the Admiral Chronographe Flyback Prato (Rose Gold Edition) is a special rose gold edition. Its 18K rose gold case houses the brand’s automatic hand-decorated dMc-760 calibre – the heart of the patented Flyback complication which offers its wearer, a single gesture to go from one measurement of time to another.
Talking about the Ateliers deMonaco range, Nailesh Khimji said, “Ateliers deMonaco is a collector’s watch brand. It is one of the few watch brands in the world with the Poinçon de Genève or Geneva Seal, which is a very demanding certification to receive. A lot of work has to go into the creation of a timepiece to receive this validation. With the Ateliers deMonaco joining the Khimji’s Watches line-up, we have a fine collection here.”
